Cerapor® Ceralu® Al2O3 foam ceramic filters have been used successfully for more than three decades in aluminum continuous casting and in the continuous casting of aluminum alloys for filtering and cleaning aluminum. They are available in two special variants. When selecting a filter, in addition to porosity, you should also consider the flow rate of the metal, the total tonnage cast per filter, the cleanliness of the metal before the filter, the preheating of the filter, and its chemical composition. Ceralu® filters are available in all standard porosities. In addition to standard sizes, Drache also offers the manufacture of customer-specific filter designs, so that the right Drache filter is available for every casting process. We would be happy to advise you on the selection of the appropriate filter for your flow rates and casting tonnage, taking into account individual process parameters such as the inclusion content of the melt.
Our Cerapor® Ceralu® Al2O3 foam ceramic filters are manufactured using certified, quality-tested processes.

The Cerapor® Ceralu® HF filter is particularly suitable when very high metal flow rates are required, which are no longer feasible or only difficult to achieve with conventional foam ceramic filters.
Drache Cerapor® Ceralu HF filters are available in the standard sizes 15“, 17”, 20,“ and 23” (but not 26″) with a porosity of PPI 40, 50, or 60.

The Cerapor® Ceralu® duplex filter combines two different porosities: the pores are coarser on the top side and finer on the bottom side.
The capacity of a Drache duplex filter is identical to that of a standard filter of similar size with a porosity corresponding to the average of the two porosities of the duplex filter. For example, a 17“ PPI 30/50 duplex filter has a similar capacity to a 17” PPI 40 standard filter.
All values are nominal values in kg/min; the actual flow rate may vary within a certain range.
