Ceralu® Al2O3 ceramic foam filters have been successfully used for more than three decades in DC casting as well as continuous casting of aluminium alloys to filter and clean the molten metal. They are available in two special variants. When selecting the filter, you should consider the flow rate of the metal, the total cast tonnage per filter, the cleanliness of the metal fed to the filter, the preheating of the filter, the filter’s chemical composition, as well as the filter’s porosity.
Our Ceralu® Al2O3 ceramic foam filters are manufactured by way of a certified, quality-tested procedure.

The Ceralu® HF filter is particularly suitable when very high metal flow rates are required, which are difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional ceramic foam filters.
Drache Ceralu HF filters are available in the common sizes 15″, 17″, 20″ and 23″ (but not 26″!) with a porosity of PPI 40, 50 or 60.
The Ceralu® duplex filter combines two different porosities: the coarser porosity is on the upper side and the finer porosity is on the bottom side.
The capacity of a Drache duplex filter is identical to that of a standard filter of similar size with a porosity equal to the average of the two porosities of the duplex filter. For example, a duplex filter 17″ PPI 30/50 has a similar capacity to a 17″ PPI 40 standard filter.
